The village of Teksyaris – Taxiarchis
We will leave Nikiti in the direction of the village of Taksiaris. It’s about an hour’s drive, with your choice – driving through the mountain view or on the road near the coastline. The road is beautiful in both cases so don’t worry about boredom. The captivating views of the wild mountain nature and pine forests, which are the symbols of the geographical area, from which serene turquoise beaches emerge, will make your trip fun and enjoyable is guaranteed.
Texiaris is a mountainous and traditional village located in the heart of the mountain range of Mount Holomontes (Hollomon), between 4 natural springs: Siputura, the Upper Spring, the Lower Spring and the Ayahu. On the way to the village you will pass through a spectacular route up the mountain and admire the views of the pine and fir forests. When you arrive in Taksiaris, you will find charming taverns, stone houses, beautiful churches and a main square where community events used to take place in the old days. The area of the village is ideal for hiking or mountain biking or horse riding. Key landmarks: Sipotore faucet –
SipotouraThe Chapel of Agia Paraskavi –
The chapel of Agia Paraskevi And the stream of Arkodulka –
Arkoudolakka. The village is known for its unique local produce of mushrooms, potatoes and beans. In recent years, Christmas fir trees have been grown in the area in huge forests on an area of about 5,800 dunams. If you come in the fall, you can enjoy the charming mushroom festival where delicious mushroom pies are baked that the locals tend to collect from Mount Holomontes.

Mount Holomon – Mount Cholomon
From the village of Takhris you will continue towards Mount Holomon which covers almost the entire center and east of Halkidiki. The mountain is covered with dense oak forest and is part of a network  Natura 2000. The highest peak rises northeast of Polygyros, the capital of Halkidiki, to a height of 1.165 meters and is also the highest point in Halkidiki. There are several trails that can be walked (not all of them are marked), but for those who are not interested, you can just walk as you wish and find a beautiful stopping point for a picnic or just admire the beauty of nature.

Arena Village – Arnea
After a green and refreshing respite on the mountain, you can continue your journey and head towards the village of Arenaa, which has been declared a historical site by the Greek Ministry of Culture thanks to traditional Macedonian architecture. You can visit St. Stephen’s Church, traditional cafes and taverns, a historical-folkloric museum and other fascinating points of interest that we would not recommend you to miss. The village is famous for its local produce of honey, jams, wine and birds, as well as the traditional hand-woven fabrics. Finally you will end the day by walking towards the small chapel of the Prophet Elias and enjoy a lovely panoramic view of the village. From there you can return happy and satisfied to your beloved Nikiti and rest in peace until the next trip.
Our Tip
“The narrow roads and spectacular views of the area offer many opportunities for unplanned stops, such as visiting local wineries or rustic restaurants. Don’t rush to your final destination – take the time to enjoy the scenery and the experiences you will have along the way.”
